Regardless of what I do my art churns out as gesture. A few years ago I commented on this fact
while selecting drawings for a show in Seattle. My wife was nearby, nestled among a scatter of
papers, paying our bills. Without looking up, without stopping or pause she said,
"Well, they're a reaction to our complex life. They're an attempt to simplify your world."
I never cease to be amazed at the startling wonder of being seen.
